Whispering Grass

“Why do you whisper, green grass?

Why tell the world what ain’t so?“

The aroma of this delightfully fresh Golden Ale has whispers of English summer meadows, while the exquisite hop finish is full of tropical flavours.

In 1975, the actors Don Estelle and Windsor Davies released a comic version of the Ink Spots’ song Whispering Grass, performing as their characters Gunner “Lofty” Sugden and Sgt Major “Shut Up” Williams from the TV show It Ain't Half Hot Mum. The song topped the UK Singles Chart for 3 weeks and the name was an obvious choice for our head brewer, whose childhood nickname was “Lofty”. The artwork for the label was provided by Hug as part of their commission to create our corporate design.
